Ingredients
2 cups flour
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 t cinnamon
1 3/4 cups milk
6 tbsp oil
2 large eggs
Directions
- Whisk together dry ingredients in a large bowl. Add the wet ingredients. Mix until well-blended and allow the batter to rest for 5 minutes.
- Heat the waffle iron and spray with cooking spray if necessary. (Some recipes suggest it, but my waffle iron never needs it.)
- Ladle 1 cup of the batter into the center of the waffle iron and spread it out slightly. Close the waffle iron. The indicator light will be red.
- Once the light turns green, check the waffle for doneness. It should be golden brown.
- Remove the waffle carefully and serve immediately. Delicious topping options include syrup, butter, berries, or whipped cream.
Notes
- This is another breakfast that children can carefully help make.
- Leftover waffles freeze well in a zip bag and can be heated in the toaster.
