Today I have been struggling with my response to someone else. My initial feeling is hurt. Now this hurt is starting to affect how I am with my family around me.
I don’t need to tell you how your attitude impacts those around you – especially your family. It seems as though every time I have a bad day, everyone else is off, too. That definitely makes things worse.
So today, now that the boys are all confined in their rooms for naps (and I might be able to think clearly), a quote is swirling around in my head.
“Don’t let anyone steal your joy.”
That is exactly what I let happen. Something probably innocent rubbed me the wrong way, and I threw my joy at it.
Now what?!
Take it BACK!
Refuse to let the thoughts, speech or actions of others keep you from having the right attitude. Examine your heart and ask God to help you.
David wrote in Psalm 51:10, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” And later in verse 12 “Restore to me the joy of your salvation.”
God is the provider of joy and contentment. Allow Him to be your joy and not those around you.
